IPS Downstream Services

IPS offers integrated downstream solutions for efficient, safe, and environmentally responsible refining, processing, and distribution of refined petroleum products and petrochemicals. Our target is to help you optimize your downstream operations and maximize profitability.

  • Pressure Vessels: We supply pressure vessels designed and fabricated to the highest industry standards (ASME Section VIII, Divisions 1 & 2) for safe and reliable operation in various downstream processes.
Our expertise covers all aspects of pressure vessel lifecycle, including:
    • Design: considering internal pressure, external loads, temperature, and corrosion.
    • Engineering calculations: stress analysis, fatigue analysis, and nozzle calculations.
    • Material selection: using appropriate grades of carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel based on process conditions.
    • Fabrication: employing qualified welders and established welding procedures
    • Inspection: using non-destructive testing (NDT) methods like radiography, ultrasonic testing, and dye penetrant inspection.
  • Heavy Wall Reactors: We supply heavy wall reactors designed for the demanding conditions of high-pressure and high-temperature refining and petrochemical processes, such as hydrocracking, catalytic reforming, and hydrotreating.
    Our expertise includes:
    • Detailed design considerations for creep (deformation under sustained stress at high temperatures)
    • fatigue (weakening due to cyclic loading).
    • fracture mechanics (resistance to crack propagation). We specify high-strength alloy steels with resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and employ specialized welding techniques and rigorous NDT to ensure structural integrity and long service life.
  • Heat Exchangers: We offer a variety of heat exchangers to meet your specific heat transfer requirements and optimize energy efficiency in your downstream processes.
    We provide:
    • shell and tube heat exchangers (the most common type, available in various configurations like fixed tube sheet, U-tube, and floating head)
    • plate heat exchangers (offering high heat transfer efficiency and a compact design)
    • air-cooled heat exchangers (for cooling process fluids using ambient air, reducing water consumption).
Our engineers will assist you in selecting the optimal heat exchanger type and size based on your specific heat duty, flow rates, temperatures, and pressures.
  • Brazed Aluminum Heat Exchangers: We offer these specialized heat exchangers for cryogenic applications (e.g., LNG processing), gas processing, and other low-temperature applications due to their high efficiency, compact size, and lightweight construction.
  • Compressors: We offer a comprehensive range of compressors engineered for various downstream applications, including gas compression, boosting, and refrigeration.
    • We provide reciprocating compressors (suitable for high pressure ratios and lower flow rates)
    • centrifugal compressors (ideal for high flow rates and lower pressure ratios)
    • screw compressors (suitable for moderate flow rates and pressures). Our experts will help you select the appropriate compressor type and size based on your specific flow rate, pressure ratio, gas composition, and efficiency requirements.
  • Extruders: We provide extruders for efficient and precise polymer processing, enabling you to manufacture a wide range of plastic products.
    • We offer both single-screw and twin-screw extruders, with screw design and material selection tailored to the specific polymer being processed (e.g., polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC). Precise temperature control systems are essential to ensure consistent melt quality and product uniformity.
  • Pelletizers: We offer pelletizers to convert molten polymer or other materials into uniform pellets for easier handling, storage, and further processing.
We provide various types of pelletizers:
    • strand pelletizers (which cut extruded strands into cylindrical pellets)
    • underwater pelletizers (which cut pellets in a water bath for rapid cooling and spherical shape)
    • air-cooled pelletizers (which cool and solidify pellets using air).
  • Loading Arms: We provide safe and efficient loading arms for transferring liquids and gases between storage tanks and various transport vessels, such as trucks, railcars, and ships.
Our loading arms are designed with considerations
    • reach articulation (degrees of freedom to accommodate vessel movement)
    • material compatibility (e.g., stainless steel for corrosive fluids)
    • essential safety features, including emergency release systems, vapor recovery systems (to minimize emissions)
    • overfill protection.
  • Reactor Internals: We offer design and supply of reactor internals to optimize flow distribution, mixing, and reaction efficiency within your reactors, maximizing product yield and minimizing byproducts.
    These internals include
    • trays (sieve trays, valve trays, packed trays)
    • packing (random packing, structured packing)
    • distributors (liquid distributors, gas distributors) carefully selected and designed to enhance reactor performance based on the specific chemical process.
  • Above Ground Storage Tanks: We provide comprehensive solutions for the storage of refined products within refinery or distribution facilities.
We adhere to relevant API standards, including:
    • API 650 (for welded steel tanks)
    • API 620 (for large, welded, low-pressure tanks)
    • API 653 (for tank inspection, repair, alteration, and reconstruction) We also offer tank accessories, such as level gauges, pressure relief valves, and fire suppression systems.
  • Large-Sized Pumps for Seawater and Fresh Water: We offer high-capacity pumps for handling large volumes of seawater and fresh water in various downstream applications, including cooling water systems (essential for heat removal in refineries and petrochemical plants), process water supply, and wastewater treatment.
We offer a variety of pump types selected based on your specific flow rate, pressure head, and water quality requirements, including
  • centrifugal pumps (for high flow rates)
  • vertical turbine pumps (for pumping from deep wells or sumps)
